Who’s next for the Raiders following Derek Carr’s extension?
Will the Raiders commit long-term to other key players?
Carr stated following the agreement that he and his agent, Tim Younger, wanted a contract that would allow the organization to retain its talent. In particular, Carr reminisced about his last contract, mentioning that “the last time I signed a deal, my best friend left.”
The quarterback is, of course, referring to Khalil Mack, who was shipped off to the Chicago Bears that offseason.

If there’s one thing that we now know for sure it is that this new regime led by Ziegler isn’t afraid to drop serious coin. In fact, on the surface, the Raiders have issued the following deals this offseason:
- Derek Carr: 3-years, $121.5M
- Davante Adams: 5-years, $142.5M
- Maxx Crosby: 4-years, $98.98M
- Chandler Jones: 3-years, $51M
Of course, there are more intangibles than the total amount these contracts are tagged at, however, it just goes to show you the Raiders mean business.
