Raiders: 4 parties that benefit the most from the Derek Carr extension

Derek Himself

Finally, the last component who benefits here is (you guessed it) Derek Carr himself.

He’s had to deal with coaches being on the fence about him, coaches being fired midseason, and teammates and top receiving targets being cut midseason. All the while, he has seen other veteran quarterbacks sign massive money deals and get their job security under control while he has had to wonder about trade rumors and free agency.

Now he’s secure. He’s got his money. He’s got his reassurance that the Raiders want him. He now knows his team 100% believes in him to win a championship.

For years, Carr has had to dodge questions about his tenure with the team, even going as far as saying that if he is not a Raider, he would rather retire. With this new deal, he has put himself in position to possibly retire as a Raider, and stringing together some dominant seasons, and possibly a title would make him the best to ever do it in a Raiders uniform.

It is now time to get out there and win that Super Bowl.
