Returning Raiders that must improve for the team to flourish in 2022

Trayvon Mullen

Trayvon Mullen’s 2021 season was very disappointing, mostly due to being off the field almost all season due to injury being limited to only five games in 2021. Luckily for the Raiders defense, they had some solid performances from Casey Hayward, rookie Nate Hobbs, and random signings like Brandon Facyson, who followed Gus Bradley to Indianapolis, and veteran Desmond Trufant.

In Mullen’s three seasons he has only played all 16 games once and that was in 2020 where he showed some flashes that he could maybe be the number one guy for the Raiders. With the trade for Rock Ya-Sin and the signing of Anthony Averett, Mullen is under even more pressure to get back to his 2020 form.

The secondary is the area of the defense with the most question marks, so let’s hope that Mullen can take one of those away this season. In the AFC West, the quarterbacks are the elite of the elite, as the Raiders play Justin Herbert, Russell Wilson, and Patrick Mahomes twice a season, so Mullen stepping into a legitimate role in 2022 will be paramount to the Raiders’ success.
