Raiders: Could we see Las Vegas make a trade for James Bradberry?
At the start of free agency, the Raiders were linked to three high-profile cornerbacks: JC Jackson, Stephon Gilmore, and James Bradberry. Now, only one remains. Are the Silver and Black still interested?
During the 2021 off-season, the Las Vegas Raiders were fortunate enough to land veteran cornerback Casey Hayward, due to the pre-existing relationship with ’21 Raiders’ defensive coordinator Gus Bradley. Hayward had a phenomenal season with the Silver and Black allowing only 427 yards, accompanied by 9 passes defended, an interception, and even a safety.
As the ’21 season came to an end, so did Gus Bradley’s tenure as the team’s defensive coordinator. Bradley found himself a new home over the off-season and Hayward followed suit, now playing alongside the young stud AJ Terrell in Atlanta.
When this year’s free agency started, Las Vegas was linked with three premier cornerbacks: JC Jackson, Stephon Gilmore, and James Bradberry – The latter being the only one who wasn’t a free agent, but available via trade. When the Raiders struck out in the JC Jackson sweepstakes, general manager Dave Ziegler sent Yannick Ngakoue to the Colts in exchange for the young corner Rock Ya-Sin.
Weeks later, a report came out stating the Raiders were interested in keeping Casey Hayward around, prior to him ultimately finalizing a deal with the Falcons. In addition, Stephon Gilmore was linked to Las Vegas for a number of weeks, before signing with Indianapolis as Ya-Sin’s replacement.
Now with Jackson, Hayward and Gilmore off the board, one player remains: The G-Men’s James Bradberry. Could we see the Raiders make a move for the Pro Bowl corner? First, let’s talk about Bradberry and how he could benefit Las Vegas.
