The Las Vegas Raiders have done a nice job stacking talent on their roster this offseason, but they could still make a few big moves before the NFL Draft.
As the NFL Draft approaches, the Raiders are poised to spend much of it on the sidelines. Not scheduled to pick until round three, they will be hard-pressed to find a difference-maker. Fortunately, they can still add in other ways.
Think back to the end of the Raiders season in 2021 and it is a much different team than the one they have currently. Perhaps most notably, they have gone through a total regime change. Gone are both general manager Mike Mayock and head coach Rich Bisaccia, and in step Dave Ziegler and Josh McDaniels. Both hailing from the New England Patriots, they bring a new attitude to Las Vegas.
Of course, the off-season splashes did not stop there. First, the Raiders signed one of the NFL’s premier pass rushers in Chandler Jones. A potential Hall of Famer, he legitimizes the Las Vegas defense. Then, they made a massive trade to acquire the best wide receiver in the NFL, Davante Adams. College teammates with quarterback Derek Carr, the two have the potential to be one of the best duos in the NFL.
Of course, the Raiders also brought back their own stars in the form of Carr and Crosby who both got contract extensions. Clearly, the Raiders are aiming to be competitive in 2022. In the ultra-talented AFC West, that will be no small feat. With little margin for error, these moves could put Las Vegas in the thick of the AFC race.
