Raiders: Is Hunter Renfrow the next Raider to have a payday?

The Raiders have dished out a lot of money on long-term extensions this year, but are they done? Quarterback Derek Carr hopes not.

The 2022 off-season for the Las Vegas Raiders has been nothing short of eventful. From filling out the coaching staff under new head coach Josh McDaniels to a compilation of roster moves no one could’ve predicted, the front office has continuously fed Raider Nation’s appetite for new team updates.

Of everything that’s happened this off-season, though, perhaps nothing is more notable than the amount of money the Las Vegas Raiders have dished out on contract extensions.

It started with All-Pro edge rusher Maxx Crosby when the ’21 league leader in pressures (per PFF) inked a four-year deal worth upwards of $95m. From Crosby, the spending spree continued in a trade that sent Davante Adams to Las Vegas, where Adams agreed to a 5y, $140m contract after refusing to play on a franchise tag – A deal that made Adams the highest-paid receiver in NFL history at the time.

Neither one of these paydays was the last of their kind, as the Silver and Black announced the “big one” last week; Quarterback Derek Carr signed a three-year extension worth up to $121.5m.

Are the Raiders done dishing out long-term deals this year? Carr hopes not, and expressed who he hopes is next in line to get paid in a tweet about Las Vegas potentially targeting Deebo Samuel.
