Raiders 2022 NFL Mock Draft: Reloading the offensive line and more
The Raiders’ interior defensive line lacks an established pass rush as it is currently constructed of mostly run stuffers. Kalia Davis has the potential to become a disruptive force inside and will carry plenty of upside in the fifth round.
A 3-tech that dominates his gap with his explosiveness and a nice first step off the snap. He was once a linebacker, possessing sufficient athleticism for his size, and has plenty of speed to create matchup problems for slower guards inside, which can be used in the pros. Davis’s burst is so remarkable that it could translate into him becoming a true force inside, containing a menacing streak.
As far as speed after the initial point of attack, Davis has more than enough quickness to disengage and help protect the edges. At the same time, he’ll penetrate his gap and cause noticeable disruption in the offensive backfield.
Once he’s in the NFL, his team’s conditioning crew will need to help get him to the right size so that all of his traits can be maximized and help him become a formidable player where his speed, motor, and strength can come together with a larger overall build.
