2022 NFL Draft: Realistic picks at 86 where Raiders come out on top
2022 NFL Draft: Realistic picks at 86 where Raiders come out on top
Christian Harris, LB, Alabama
I could’ve gone with a corner here, as both Ya-Sin and Mullen are in the final year of their contract, and the chances they both get paid by Las Vegas are slim to none. Still, there are more immediate needs, and potentially better players available.
It’s funny how drafts shape up sometimes, isn’t it? For a large part of the end of the year, Harris was considered a late first-round to early second-round prospect. Since, his stock has noticeably dropped, to the point I’m sitting here and naming him a potential selection with the 86th overall pick – Not that it means he’ll be available when the time comes, of course.
Harris is a do-it-all linebacker whose versatility has allowed him to play each 4-3 linebacker in Alabama’s defense, in addition to dabbling in the nickel. This is a big thing for the Raiders – Who do we know that prioritizes versatility? Las Vegas’ defensive coordinator, Patrick Graham.
The run ability to play the run also stands out, showcased in Harris’ impressive athleticism, which has allowed the 232lb to record 26 tackles for a loss in the last three years. The pass-rushing talent is also there, as shown in his 10 sacks in this time.
All in all, if Harris is there at 86 – Which is admittedly a slim chance, albeit still realistic – it’s hard to pass up on the 21-year-old.
