Raiders 2022 NFL Draft: 5 athletic gems to find on Day 3
Raiders 2022 NFL Draft: 5 athletic gems to find on Day 3
Thomas Booker (RAS Score: 9.88)
Consensus RK #177
The Raiders’ defensive line was the star of 2021, with Maxx Crosby taking a giant leap, and now the trade for Chandler Jones should only improve things in 2022. The interior looks to be solid but could still use a little more depth, and a prospect like Thomas Booker would be a nice addition
Thomas was a four-year starter at Stanford and played all across the line of scrimmage from five tech to nose tackle. And in true Stanford fashion, he was a finalist for the 2021 William V. Campbell Trophy, which is essentially the academic Heisman.
Football-wise, you see a player with great explosiveness in his lower half, which shows in the testing numbers. Booker scored a 9.88 on RAS thanks to elite speed and agility scores. So the Raiders would be getting a bright, explosive, and from all accounts, a high motor player. At only 301 lbs, the playing strength looks to be an issue, according to most analysts, and he needs to develop consistency under better coaching.
All the traits are there for Booker to be a contributor to a team, and with his athleticism, he should be able to stick on a roster.
