With their second pick acquired from the Rams in the previous trade, the Raiders selected a tackle from Ohio State; Thayer Munford Jr.
Frankly, this is my favorite pick in the draft. Munford was a four-year starter and team captain at Ohio State, at the new biggest position of need with Parham helping the inside of the offensive line. The 321lb tackle was honored by the school for his toughness, accountability, and “highest of character”.
Per Pro Football Focus, Munford ranked no.151 on the big board, with Las Vegas drafting him in the seventh round. For his efforts, he was acknowledged as a first-team All-American in ’21, by AFCA.
The offensive line already had a ton of ways it could potentially shape up, but now with another right tackle in the mix, the plot thickens. There’s not much more to say here. The Raiders needed a tackle and were able to get a quality one at the end of the draft. This was an excellent selection.
