DT. LSU. NeilFarrell. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 126. 28

What’s going on here? I just claimed the Raiders had the 126th overall pick but traded it in a deal to move up to 122. Surprise! Las Vegas traded for the very pick they shipped away 4 selections ago.

Now back on the clock, the Silver and Black selected LSU’s, Neil Farrell.

With a quick first step, Farrell is deadly against the run. In his final season at LSU, the 330lb interior defensive lineman recorded the fourth-most run stops in the entire FBS, totaling 24. In a late-season contest against Alabama, Farrell recorded 7 tackles with 2.5 being behind the line of scrimmage, helping hold Alabama to 6 rushing yards – The lowest ever recorded by the school in an SEC matchup.

As good as the fourth-round pick is against the run, he lacks true pass-rushing skill. Farrell has tallied 7.5 sacks through his college tenure, with no real consistency behind this number. As such, it’s likely rotations will be used on pass rushing downs, but expect the trenches to be clogged on shorter downs.

Farrell made PFF’s All-America team last season.
