The Raiders had pick no.164, but just like with their previous two picks, they decided to go in a different direction. With that, a trade to the Super Bowl champion LA Rams was made, where Las Vegas acquired picks no.175 and 238.

With the first of the two picks acquired from the Rams, defensive tackle Mathew Butler was taken, giving the Raiders their second DT of the draft and 9th on the roster.

Although Las Vegas drafted an interior defensive tackle just one selection prior, these two players are far from the same. While Farrell is the run stopper, Butler is the pass rusher – Who also brings some run-stopping ability himself.

In his last three seasons at Tennessee, Butler pieced together 9.5 sacks and 14.5 tackles for a loss. Value can be found in other parts of his game as well, as shown by the 3 pass deflections and 2 forced fumbles in this timeframe.

The Raiders had many defensive tackles on the roster, but they didn’t have one who can get to the quarterback. Now, they do.
