Las Vegas Raiders 2022 NFL Draft: Way-too-early superlatives

Most likely to get a new contract first: Matthew Butler

Maxx Crosby was a fourth-round draft pick back in 2019. He eventually became the Raiders’ best edge rusher with 25 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, and one of the best defensive players at pressuring the quarterback. As a result, he earned a big contract this offseason!

Butler should be the first Raider draft pick to earn an extension. Butler walks into a good situation. While the opposing offensive line will devote much of their attention to trying to contain Crosby and Chandler Jones that should enable Butler to use his speed and quickness to get into the backfield and make plays.

In addition, Butler also possesses lateral quickness which will enable him to be more disrupting in potential tricks plays or gadget plays,

Butler may not start right away as he will probably be a rotational player early on. He has the potential to be very disruptive at the three-technique.
