With the 2022 NFL Draft finally over, the Raiders rookie class is now set. The first under the new regime of Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziegler, these were some takeaways from the class.

The 2022 NFL Draft is in the books, and we learned a few things about the vision of this franchise moving forward. Here, we take a look at three of them.

Las Vegas Raiders 2022 NFL Draft: 3 things we learned

Derek Carr is the number one priority

Everyone knows the starting quarterback holds almost all the keys to the offense. Whether he succeeds or not is often going to decide how successful the offense and team are overall. In Las Vegas, the new Raiders brass is doing everything they can to make sure quarterback Derek Carr is playing at the highest level possible.

Of course, they traded for his best friend and elite wide receiver, Davante Adams. They also gave him a contract extension that makes him one of the league’s highest-paid quarterbacks. In the draft, they used their first selection on interior offensive lineman Dylan Parham. With weakness at left guard, Parham is likely to battle John Simpson for the starting spot.

The selection of Parham, considered a steal by many, will help make Carr successful by keeping him clean. Going into the 2022 season, Carr will have an improved offensive line, better wide receivers, and, perhaps most importantly, long-term stability due to his contract extension.
