Las Vegas Raiders 2022 NFL Draft: 3 things we learned

The Raiders have a “type” at defensive tackle

One of the best ways to find value in the NFL Draft is on the interior of both the offensive and defensive line. This rings especially true in the later rounds of the draft. Luckily for the Raiders, this is where all of their selections fell due to the Davante Adams trade.

With their fourth-round pick, they opted to draft LSU defensive tackle Neil Farrell Jr. Considered a good value at the pick they took him, he measures in at 6’4″ and 330 pounds. A massive player with some solid athletic ability, he adds to a defensive tackle room that is filled with players who have similar traits.

In the 2022 off-season, the Raiders added many players to the interior of their defense. Among them are Vernon Butler, Jonathan Hankins, and Andrew Billings. All three of these players, plus Farrell Jr., reach the 330-pound threshold that the Raiders’ front office appears to covet. One thing is for sure, however, with all of the mass on the inside, it will be hard to run the ball on the Raiders in 2022.
