Raiders free agent target – Jadeveon Clowney, EDGE

2021 Key Stats

  • 9 Sacks
  • 11 Tackles For A Loss
  • 2 Forced Fumbles
  • 69.1 PFF Pass Rush Grade

The Raiders’ defensive line has gone through some significant changes from top to bottom, with Patrick Graham taking over as defensive coordinator. Schematically, how the team attacks the quarterback will slightly change with Chandler Jones coming aboard. Jadeveon Clowney’s presence either outside on the edges or as an outside linebacker would be a boost for the right price.

An underrated aspect of Clowney’s game is in the run-stopping department. He’s a physical presence that sets the tone now that he’s accumulated plenty of experience. Yannick Ngakoue was a liability in run defense last year, so Jones presents an upgrade.

At this point in his career, Clowney would also be an upgrade. However, Clowney could be limited to just rushing the quarterback, which would keep him fresh and healthy at the same time.
