Raiders: What would a new contract for Hunter Renfrow look like?
The Details
To say the 2022 NFL off-season has been tumultuous in the wide receiver market would be an understatement. For Raiders fans, they got the honor of executing the first massive trade at the position with Davante Adams. Then it was the Chiefs who traded away their superstar receiver, Tyreek Hill. Not to be outdone, the Titans would also trade A.J. Brown.
All three of those receivers would also get massive contract extensions that would place them among the top five highest-paid wide receivers. The other two, Stefon Diggs and DeAndre Hopkins, were also traded to their new teams. Mike Williams of the Chargers also got a new contract that made him the eighth highest-paid wideout in the league.
All of this is in response to the massive contract given out to Christian Kirk whom the Jaguars signed to a four-year, 72 million dollar contract. After this contract sent the market off the rails, it was clear that the bar had been set.
So, for the Raiders and Hunter Renfrow to get a deal done, they would likely have to offer him a contract that pays him over 18 million per year. Currently, the only two receivers that are more than that outside the top ten are Brandin Cooks and Michael Thomas. While both are likely better players than Renfrow, he would be wise to ask for more money than both of them as well.
