Is the best yet to come for Las Vegas Raiders QB Derek Carr?

Derek Carr is finally poised for a playoff run in 2022

Most Raiders fans just want to see their team succeed, whether Carr gets his or not. However, for Las Vegas to build off the surprising success of 2021, Carr will need to do more than he ever has. Luckily for him, the offensive weaponry that’s been assembled this offseason should make things somewhat easier for him this season.

Carr hasn’t had much luck in the postseason so far. His first trip was derailed back in 2016 due to an injury, and this past January, the Raiders were so close to pulling off a victory against the Cincinnati Bengals. Nevertheless, “coming close” is never an excuse, and Carr, being the fiery competitor that he is, is fully aware of that.

Yes, the offensive line appears to be a concern on paper, but new head coach Josh McDaniels will make the most of what he has, which is a young, versatile group. Carr can still improve, and getting to throw to the likes of Davante Adams, Hunter Renfrow, and Darren Waller is going to do wonders for him. If you look at any of the past great NFL quarterbacks that experienced success in the 32-35 age range, they were often surrounded by a strong supporting cast.

For the first time in his career, Carr will now have the most “complete” weaponry that a quarterback can get. A stacked running back stable, a top-three wide receiver, a top-10 wideout in the slot, and an all-world tight end.

Things have appeared to have come together at just the right time for Carr: age, health, a potent offense, and an organization that’s committed to him.
