Nick Mullens has the most experience other than Derek Carr, will it matter?

Nick Mullens is actually the most proven quarterback on the roster other than Carr. He’s 5-12 as a starter, most recently going 0-1 for the Cleveland Browns last season. Many seem to overlook that Mullens actually has a career touchdown to interception ratio of 26 to 22. Not bad at all for someone looking to lock down a backup gig.

Most Raiders fans will recall that Mullens nearly led the Browns to a victory over Las Vegas back in December. Mullens orchestrated a beautiful fourth-quarter drive that resulted in a touchdown pass. However, the Raiders won on a 48-yard field goal by Daniel Carlson which sealed the deal.

If you’re judging on experience rather than potential, there’s no reason that Mullens shouldn’t be Carr’s backup in 2022. The rest of the group has little to offer as far as on-field accomplishments go, though the last quarterback was seen as someone worth giving up draft capital for.
