Raiders: Question for each offensive position group entering 2022 summer

Quarterback: Who backs up Derek Carr?

There is no doubt when it comes to who the starting quarterback will be for the Raiders this season, as it will be the same man who has held down that position since the 2014 NFL season. Derek Carr enters his ninth season at the helm of the franchise, and while wins have been hard to come by, he has re-wrote the record book when it comes to nearly every passing category.

Throughout his career, he has had some solid backup quarterbacks, including the last two seasons, when Marcus Mariota held that role. Mariota is now in Atlanta, where he is getting another chance at starting, meaning the QB2 spot is up for grabs with the Silver and Black.

Looking at the depth chart, there are a few names to keep an eye on, but none bigger than Jarrett Stidham, a former New England Patriots backup who spent time with new head coach Josh McDaniels there. Stidham should have the upper hand in this contest, but as someone who has yet to prove himself at the NFL level, the job is anybody’s to win this summer.
