The 2022 Las Vegas Raiders rookie class featured multiple defensive tackles and running backs. It also hopefully will bring a talent to help along the offensive line.

The 2022 NFL Draft for the Las Vegas Raiders started off with a bang before the draft even happened, as in March t, they traded their first and second-round picks in the 2022 draft to the Green Bay Packers for Davante Adams. As the Raiders proceeded into the draft, there were hints that there could be moves to bring the team back into the early rounds, rather they stayed pat and picked for the first time in the 3rd round.

As we analyze the Raiders draft, it was a mixture of need and best player available with players who can all come in and make an impact in their first year. Here we will take a look at the rookie draft class and rank where their potential impact is.

No. 6: Thayer Munford Jr.

Thayer Munford Jr. while listed at tackle, only started one game at that position. Throughout his collegiate career, Munford was a utility man on the offensive line and has played both guard and tackle.

While Munford’s athleticism served him well working in the interior line, especially in pulling, his lack of attack did not fare well for him on the outside, particularly in the passing game. The Raiders offensive line, still a work in progress with several question marks on the right side of the line will continue to shuffle and piece together the right players to ensure the best results for Derek Carr as well as the running game which stammered in 2021 following injuries, trades, and other departures.

While a 7th-round offensive lineman is rarely considered the answer to all woes, it should be noted that Munford’s flexibility and knowledge of multiple positions on the line may prove to be valuable for the Raiders.
