Raiders’ tackle prospect watch – Connor Galvin, Baylor

Baylor’s Connor Galvin will likely draw plenty of attention once the college season gets underway. PFF recently noted that he was one of the few tackles in the Big 12 that didn’t surrender a sack last season after playing 410 snaps. It should be noted that PFF also graded 91.2 in pass blocking, last time I checked, the Raiders haven’t had that level of blocking at right tackle in quite some time.

Galvin is a beast, standing at six-foot-seven and 310 pounds. Look for him to get even stronger this upcoming season. The reason for this is that he has trouble with more elite pass rushers due to the real estate he gives up because of his height.

He’s a natural athlete, though, with sufficient bend and nice lateral movement and speed. His feet are technically sound, he maintains poise and balance while in pass protection, and he has some of the best hands for a tackle prospect.
