Raiders’ tackle prospect watch – Dawand Jones, Ohio State

The Raiders will be looking to establish an identity with regard to their run game. If that’s the case, McDaniels and Ziegler will need to keep an eye on Ohio State’s Dawand Jones. At six-foot-eight and 360 pounds, Jones is a mammoth of a player.

Ohio State had an imposing run game last season, featuring TreVeyon Henderson and Miyan Williams, posting 1,756 rushing yards total; a big part of that was Jones. PFF recognized his efforts in that department, grading him 90.6 in run blocking.

Arguably one of the best left tackle prospects that scouts will be monitoring in 2022, it would behoove the Raiders to keep an eye on him. He has everything you look for in a prospect; he’s got the size, raw athleticism, and bullying strength you want in an offensive lineman. He also has a good sense of awareness and better than average play recognition, all of which will get better this coming season.
