Reviewing the current inside linebackers for the Las Vegas Raiders

Jayon Brown

From here on, the remaining players at the position will be players the Raiders added this off-season. Of those players, we start with the one who’s instantly projected to be a 3-4 starting inside linebacker: Jayon Brown.

Right off the bat, there’s one significant difference between Brown and the two beforementioned linebackers – Brown has 3-4 experience. Lots of 3-4 experience, at that.

Since coming into the NFL in 2017, the Titans have run a 3-4 defense, and Brown has been around to play in 66 of those games. Of these games, the former fifth-round pick has started 39 contests, logging 3,241 career defensive snaps.

Brown has been a jack of all trades since being drafted, recording 9.5 sacks and 28 pass defenses. In addition, the new addition for the Raiders has shown he has a knack for creating turnovers, totaling 4 interceptions and 4 forced fumbles since becoming a starter in the 2018 season.

All things considered, there’s nothing that suggests Brown won’t be a contributing player in this scheme, if nothing else. He has the experience playing in Graham’s main front, and has showcased the type of versatility Graham holds in high regard. Nothing is a given, but at this point in time, Brown is the safest inside linebacker to pencil in as a starter for the Raiders’ 3-4 defense.
