Raiders: Why Derek Carr could be the 2022 NFL MVP

The Weapons

Last season, Carr threw for 4,804 yards in 17 games, the most passing yards he has ever thrown for in a season, and did it without a true WR1 for most of the season. At the beginning of the season, Carr had Henry Ruggs III, and he looked to be a legitimate WR1, but we all know how that story ended.

In 2022, Carr will have a tremendous group of weapons, including one of the best duo at the wide receiver spot in Davante Adams and Hunter Renfrow. Those two, coupled with arguably the best tight end in the NFL in Darren Waller give No. 4 three elite options in the passing game, as well as some tremendous depth at the running back spot.

Overall, if the right side of the Raiders’ offensive line can improve, the Silver and Black could be unstoppable at times on the offensive side of the ball. The weapons are there, and with protection, Carr should be one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, in terms of statistics, once again.
