3 free agents that could help the Las Vegas Raiders right away
Sheldon Richardson
At 31 years old, Sheldon Richardson is no longer his prime self. The former 2013 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year and Pro Bowler has bounced around the NFL the last five seasons and is now looking for his fifth team.
However, Richardson could be highly productive in a part time role. Richardson is likely to be highly effective as a 3-4 defensive end in both the pass rushing and run stopping areas.
Richardson was also a free agent late into June last season so he will likely command less than $3 million and could rotate in with the bevy of defensive tackles the Raiders currently deploy. Richardson was used as a defensive end last season, a role that likely doesn’t suit his skillset anymore but still managed to produce 37 pressure, 11 quarterback hits, and 4 sacks in over 400 pass rush reps.
His versatility and availability should be very attractive to the new Raiders regime.
