T.Y. Hilton

The Raiders do only have about $20 million and would likely be priced out of some of the top remaining free agents if they do want to sign Hunter Renfrow to an extension. The Raiders could use a deep threat opposite of Davante Adams who could play 15-20 snaps a game to take the top off of the defense.

The Rams signed DeSean Jackson last season to rotate in occasionally which opened up the field for their other receivers. When Jackson asked for his release, the Raiders couldn’t replicate the production, but could still use that speed. The Raiders likely can’t afford Odell Beckham Jr. and WIll Fuller can’t ever seem to stay healthy and on the field, but T.Y. Hilton could be a great option despite his age.

Hilton was once the premier deep threat in the NFL but his age has caught up to him. All signs point to him returning to the Colts but the Raiders could still make a play there. Hilton struggled with injuries and inconsistent QB play in 2021 but he could be that deep threat the Raiders are seeking with a managed workload and improved QB play.

Ever since Derek Carr has entered the NFL, he has played his best with a deep threat. Amari Cooper and Henry Ruggs opened up the field significantly for Carr to operate. New star receiver Davante Adams is surely a deep threat, but not in the way that will take the top off of the defense. The addition of a speedy wide receiver could make the Raiders the best offense in the NFL.
