5 Las Vegas Raiders that have to improve during the 2022 offseason

Johnathan Abram

Staying with the 2019 NFL Draft class for the Raiders, one that saw them squander three first-round picks, we turn our attention to the secondary. Since coming into the league, Johnathan Abram has shown flashes of brilliance, but has not been able to play consistent football, and is at a bit of a crossroad.

Las Vegas invested in the safety spot in a big way during the 2021 NFL Draft, adding Tre’Von Moehrig in the second round, and then Tyree Gillespie on Day 3. They also Duron Harmon to the group this offseason, so this is a summer where Abram needs to prove that he should be the starter alongside Moehrig once again.

The Raiders have already decided to decline the fifth-year option on all three of their 2019 first-round picks, making this an even more important summer for Abram. Sure, he has the talent to be a very good player in this league, but until he proves he can do it weekly, the Raiders have to be prepared for life after Abram.
