5 players the Las Vegas Raiders cannot live without in 2022

Derek Carr

You thought an article discussing important Raiders would not include possibly the most important one?

Derek Carr is the heart and soul of this Raiders franchise. Finally rewarded with a nice extension, as well as a quarterback guru in new head coach Josh McDaniels, Carr has the chance to have his best season yet, and let’s not forget about that Adams guy.

Carr has been in charge of this Raiders offense since his rookie season in 2014. After enduring much-divided hate/love from the Raider fanbase, and media alike. Not one person can argue here that he now has his greatest offensive weapons on paper by far this season.

The veteran quarterback has been let down most of his career by a lack of superstar talent around him on offense, and a defense that has routinely been ranked near the bottom of the league throughout the majority of his career thus far.

Las Vegas went in with guns blazing this offseason, giving Carr his college buddy and superstar in Adams. They brought in an entirely new regime in the personnel department and improved the defense immensely.

The first selection the Raiders even used in this year’s draft was on an offensive lineman in Dylan Parham. They are heavily investing in rebuilding the offense around Carr, and he can topple a season from a year ago when he went for nearly 5,000 passing yards.

With a healthy Darren Waller and the rapid development of Hunter Renfrow and Adams, Carr has weapons that he has never had even close to in his career.

This team will indeed only go as far as their “captain” will take them. And all of the chatter about if Carr is the man to lead this franchise into the future will either be silenced or put on full speaker mode as there are now no excuses for the quarterback.

His win/loss record may be questioned, but you do have to look at the drama and lack of talent that has surrounded Carr since he arrived from Fresno.

Even if you’re a Carr hater, you have to have some excitement about what the Raiders have placed around the quarterback. He is the most vital piece in the entirety of this team, and the franchise will only go as far as Carr will lead them.
