Raiders: 3 storylines to watch during the 2022 mandatory minicamp

The Raiders Use of Offensive Weapons

The way the Raiders are constructed, they should have a high potent offense with many different weapons contributing. Between the talent and Josh Mcdaniels’ play calling and creativity, this offense could be a top 5 unit in the NFL. Many of the skill position starters are set, Derek Carr will be the quarterback, Josh Jacobs will be the starting running back, and Davante Adams, Hunter Renfrow, and Darren Waller will all start at their respective positions as well.

However, what truly makes an offense great is when the role players can contribute at a high level.

The Raiders do have a battle for the number two wide receiver spot with Demarcus Robinson, Mack Hollins, and Keelan Cole battling it out, but all of those players will likely play a role in the offense. The storyline to keep an eye on is how these other players look in the offense.

How do Cole, Robinson, Hollins, and Tyron Johnson fit in the offense? Are they getting open consistently with so much attention drawn to Adams, Renfrow, and Waller? Can D.J. Turner or Dillon Stoner push Johnson? The Raiders need to settle all of their role players into their roles for the offense to truly flourish.

The same goes with the running backs and tight ends on the roster. What does Kenyan Drake’s role look like? Where do Brandon Bolden and Zamir White fit in? How can McDaniels include Foster Moreau and Jacob Hollister? The Raiders have a lot of talent on their offense and if McDaniels can fit all of these guys in, the Raiders will have waves of offense consistently coming.
