Las Vegas Raiders 2022 opponent offseason review: Arizona Cardinals

Offensive Additions

So what did the Cardinals end up doing to help alleviate not only the loss of Hopkins for six games but also letting wide receiver Christian Kirk leave in free agency to sign a massive f72 million dollar deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars? The Arizona Cardinals traded their 2022 first-round pick on draft day to the Baltimore Ravens for Wide Receiver Marquise Brown.

Just like Derek Carr and Davante Adams, Marquise “Hollywood” Brown and Kyler Murray were college teammates at Oklahoma where they lit up the NCAA with 1,318 receiving yards on 75 receptions, and 10 touchdowns.

They also re-signed their tight ends Zach Ertz, who they acquired in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles last season, and Maxx Williams. Williams started five games last season before tearing his ACL in the Cardinals’ Week 5 game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Williams ended his season with 16 receptions 198 yards and one touchdown. He originally signed with the Cardinals in 2019 after being drafted by the Baltimore Ravens. Ertz signed a three-year deal 31 million dollar deal with the Cardinals this offseason $17.5 million of that is guaranteed.

The Arizona Cardinals also made moves in their backfield resigning running back James Conner to a three-year 21 million dollar contract. Conner had a breakout season last year for the Cardinals totaling 752 rushing yards playing in 15 games and six starts, but the impressive thing about Conner’s season was the 15 touchdowns he rushed for.

The Cardinals also brought in a familiar foe to Raider fans signing former Kansas City Chiefs Running Back Darryl Williams to a one-year contract.

The last notable offensive signing for the Cardinals was the resigning of wide receiver AJ Green, who joined the team after spending nine years with the Cincinnati Bengals battling injuries hampering what could’ve been a really more productive career. Green struggled to find his footing with the Cardinals last season finishing his first season with the Cardinals with 848 yards on 54 receptions and three touchdowns.
