The Las Vegas Raiders are making it a point to keep their star players around, and here are three more they should extend after they get the Darren Waller deal done.

The new regime of the Raiders, led by Head Coach Josh McDaniels and General Manager Dave Ziegler, has made it a point to give big extensions to some of the Raiders’ core players that helped lead the team to the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

One of the first orders of business for the Raiders’ new lead men was to give breakout star Maxx Crosby a massive extension that ties the fan favorite to the Raiders for the next half-decade. This is a great sign from a new regime. Evaluating players and rewarding them for continued hard work is noticed in the locker room.

After the whirlwind of free agency that escalated the Raiders to contender status, the Raiders locked up the face of the franchise, Derek Carr. Carr had the best year of his career and showed his talent at being a top-end quarterback when things go right. McDaniels and Ziegler clearly were favorable of Carr from the start and locking him in gives credibility to a new regime.

Carr is a locker room favorite and leader of the team and after returning to the playoffs, all of the trade rumors had to be quieted. The Raiders then gave an extension to Pro Bowl wide receiver Hunter Renfrow, one of Carr’s best friends and a 2021 breakout player. The Raiders still have some room to give extensions to core players and Darren Waller makes the most sense. Waller wants a new contract but it is unlikely that he’ll get one this year.

Therefore, let’s see who else can get an extension.
