Taking a hard look at the Raiders’ roster and giving a detailed, in-depth analysis, while forming the most probable (two-deep) depth chart for the offensive skill positions.
With mandatory minicamp all wrapped up, Raiders’ head coach Josh McDaniels and his staff finally get to peak at the roster constructed this off-season and note how players and units are beginning to mesh. If you’re a coach entering your year-old with a new team, this period of time is that much more meaningful, allowing you to get an early understanding of what and who you have to work with.
For Raider Nation, getting that early understanding isn’t so easy.
It’s hard to know how players are performing each day at practice if you’re not at the facility, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t enough information to go off of. Using evidence such as film, scheme fits, and even reports provided by the team, can go a long way in helping to ultimately get an idea of how the depth chart will likely pan out.
Of course, things can change as camps roar on, but it’s not too early to get the general idea of each player on the roster by noting their strengths and fit in the scheme. Given the above, I thought it best to give a detailed, in-depth analysis of the Raiders’ roster, providing the most likely (two-deep) depth chart.
As this will be quite in-depth, it makes the most sense to split the roster analysis into parts, coming together for the full series once each piece is wrapped up. Here, this will start at the offensive skill positions, eventually making its way to the offensive line, before tying a knot on the series with the defense.
That said, let’s get to work – Skill positions, offense.
