Quarterback (2): Derek Carr, Jarrett Stidham

For the first time in a long time, Derek Carr has gone through an offseason without everyone saying he is going to be shipped out of the organization. In fact, Ziegler and staff did him a huge favor when they not only extended him but also brought in his best friend to be his WR1 for the foreseeable future.

With the Carr talk silenced, that does not mean that this position group is not going to get a lot of attention this offseason. The battle for the No. 2 spot behind Carr will rage on all summer long and includes some talented backups in the likes of Jarrett Stidham, Nick Mullens, and even Chase Garbers.

Overall, I like Stidham’s chances of making this roster as Carr’s backup, as he played under new head coach Josh McDaniels in New England. Mullens has had success at the NFL level, including against this franchise, so he is going to fight for the job, but in the end, McDaniels’ comfortability with Stidham should win him the job.
