During the 2021 offseason, the Raiders made a splash went they gave a boatload of money to Kenyan Drake to be the team’s backup behind Josh Jacobs. For years, Jacobs was seen as a very talented player, but also seemed to get tired late in the season, so Drake was supposed to spell him and get him the rest he needs throughout the season to stay productive.

Instead, Drake was injured during the season, and Jacobs once again had to shoulder the load, something he did very well during the team’s playoff run. In 2022, new head coach Josh McDaniels has brought over Brandon Bolden with him from New England, so could there be a battle brewing as to who is the No. 1 backup behind Jacobs?

The trust is there for McDaniels when it comes to Bolden, but Drake can be an outstanding playmaker in his own right when he is healthy. Las Vegas also used a draft pick on Zamir White, who figures to play a role in Year 1, so when it comes to who backs up Jacobs in 2022, training camp looms large.
