We continue our look at the 2022 Raiders opponent’s offseasons with division rival Kansas City, who lost a huge part of their offense.

The Kansas City Chiefs had the worst offseason of all the AFC West teams some would say, as they lost an All-Pro talent in wide receiver Tyreek Hill, and didn’t replace him with anywhere close to the equal level of talent. They also did not add any level of talent that the Raiders, Chargers, or Broncos did on that either side of the ball.

For that reason, this season is going to be Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes’ biggest test yet of their Chiefs tenure together, as they lost their most important offensive weapon and every other team in the division made moves to try to catch up to them.

One positive that came out of this Chiefs offseason was the return of offensive coordinator Eric Bienemy despite rumors of a rift between him and his franchise quarterback. Every season it has been rumored that Bienemy will be hired elsewhere as a head coach, but this offseason was a different story, as rumors were circulating about his departure because of his combative relationship with Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes.

Reid put an end to those rumors rather quickly and Bienemy agreed to return to run this offense for his fifth season.
