Las Vegas Raiders: Projecting Derek Carr’s 2022 stat line
By Brad Weiss
The Las Vegas Raiders have a top-10 quarterback in Derek Carr, and here, we attempt to look at what his final stat line could be for the 2022 NFL season.
Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr enters his ninth season as the starter for the franchise and is fresh off leading the team to the playoffs for only the second time in his career. There have been some very low lows for the Raiders since Carr took over as the starter as a rookie, but for the most part, he has come to work every day and gotten the job done.
Now, entering a very crucial 2022 campaign, Carr is not only looking to take his game to the next level but make the Raiders a winning franchise once again. After going 8-8 in 2020, the Raiders put together their first winning season since 2016 last year, and hopefully, that is the start of a strong run for the franchise.
Here, we take a look at No. 4’s 2022 season, and what could be for him statistically when all is said and done.
Raiders QB Derek Carr to have career-year in 2022
Based on all the weapons the Raiders have in the passing game, I would expect Josh McDaniels to throw the ball nearly 40 times per game this upcoming season. If Carr can stay healthy, which has not been an issue during his career, he will likely complete around 68 percent of his passes, which has been the norm as of late.
That would put him with the best statistical year of his career, eclipsing the 5,000-yard mark, and tossing a career-high 34 touchdown passes. That make would also tie him with the late Daryle Lamonica for the most TD passes in a single season in team history.
Of course, to accomplish this, not only does Carr have to stay healthy, but his offensive line needs to take a big step forward. The Silver and Black did not do a ton to improve the offensive line, which was an Achilles Heel for the franchise last season, so keep an eye on that during the summer months.
However, when all is said and done, Carr is in for a monster season.
Final Stat Line: 442-646, 68.4 Completion Percentage, 5,102 yards, 34 TDs, 12 INTs
