3 reasons the Las Vegas Raiders need to trade for Jessie Bates

Veteran next to Tre’Von Moehrig

During his rookie season, Tre’Von Moehrig showed all Las Vegas Raiders fans that the team was smart to trade up for him during the 2021 NFL Draft. As a rookie, Moehrig became one of the better safeties in the AFC, and many believe he is going to take a major step forward in Year 2.

For him to do that, he has to have more talent around him, as the Raiders have had issues in the secondary for years. Yes, he is a very good player, and someone who could net his first Pro Bowl nod this upcoming season, but the organization is doing him a disservice by not having a better starter alongside of him every week.

Bates is a player who is proven in this league and is a veteran presence who can help the young safety in the tough moments. He helped the Bengals to a Super Bowl last season, so he has also played in some huge games, and experience like that for a young budding superstar will prove paramount in his development.
