Expectations high as the Las Vegas Raiders open 2022 training camp

The Las Vegas Raiders veterans will report to training camp today, and for the first time in a long time, expectations are very high for the Silver and Black.
Coming off a season where the Las Vegas Raiders had to navigate plenty of obstacles on and off the field, the Silver and Black have some high expectations in 2022. This offseason, Las Vegas made wholesale changes within the roster, in the front office, and when it comes to the coaching staff, as they hope to make it to the playoffs for the second consecutive seasons.
Remember, this is a franchise that has not made consecutive playoff appearances in 20 years.
With more talent on the roster than there was a year ago, including multiple players who could be named All-Pro in 2022, the Raiders are no longer a doormat for the opposition. In fact, one would argue that they have some of the best talent in the entire NFL, starting with an elite edge rushing duo in Maxx Crosby and Chandler Jones.
On offense, Derek Carr is back for his ninth season at quarterback and could be in for his best season yet. Davante Adams, arguably the best wideout in the NFL, was brought in via trade, and combining him with Hunter Renfrow in the passing game could produce video game-type numbers for No. 4.
Las Vegas also happens to have an elite tight end, and some budding stars on defense, including Tre’Von Moehrig, who may be ready to blossom into one of the best safeties in the league.
Raiders looking to make it back-to-back playoff appearances
With another strong season, the Raiders should be able to punch their ticket to the playoffs, though they will have to navigate a very tough AFC West to do so. With four of the top-10 quarterbacks in the NFL in the division, the AFC West is the best in the league, and it is going to come down to the wire to see who wins it.
Training camp kicks off today from Henderson, Nevada, and the Silver and Black have a little over two weeks to get ready for the Hall of Fame game against Jacksonville. That will be our first look at what the new roster looks like, and it is sure to be an exciting summer seeing who ends up making the final 53-man roster.
