Las Vegas Raiders 2022 training camp: 4 possible veteran cut candidates

Jacob Hollister

Las Vegas agreed to a one-year, $1.1 million contract with Jacob Hollister in March but there is no guarantee that he will be on the roster come Week 1. Close to none of his contract is guaranteed and as the depth chart stands right now the Raiders have four tight ends in total.

Don’t bet on McDaniels and Ziegler running with four tight ends once the season starts.

Last season the Patriots went with two tight ends in their personnel just 14 percent of the time, per Sharp Football Stats. When you have Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith it makes sense, but Las Vegas doesn’t necessarily need to run with the 12 personnel formation. The Raiders’ clear number one option is Darren Waller, with Foster Moreau behind him in certain situations and in case of injury.

That leaves Hollister battling it out with Nick Bowers for the third spot. Granted, Hollister has the experience advantage of having been in New England for two seasons. But Bowers is three years younger at 25 years old and has more size at 6’4″ and 265 lbs. If the Raiders were to lean on the upside then Hollister could get the short end of the stick.
