Tyron Johnson

Tyron Johnson has been catching the eyes of the new Raiders regime. Johnson was brought in last season after the departure of Henry Ruggs, with the team hoping to add a speed element to the offense. However, Johnson was mostly relegated to kick return duties and saw little action on offense.

This offseason, Johnson’s speed has flashed. Johnson has bounced around the league since 2019 but his speed, size, and special teams ability could help him make the team. If the Raiders opt to keep the 6th receiver, Johnson is very likely to be that option. Recently, McDaniels praised Johnson saying:

“I’m really proud of him. Everybody knows he’s fast, but it takes a lot more than being fast to play in our league at that position, and he’s working extremely hard to be prepared,” McDaniels said. “He’s prepared every day and he knows what his assignments are. He has been able to really connect with the quarterbacks and different things. He works hard in practice. He takes care of his body. He’s now becoming that guy that is dependable from day-to-day and that’s a big word for us.”
