3 Possible Scapegoats for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022

Scapegoat #1: Davante Adams

There are about 141.25 million reasons that Davante Adams would be a possible scapegoat if the Raiders fail to find success in 2022. After giving up a decent haul in draft capital, with their 2022 first and second-round draft picks, Las Vegas paid Adams like they believe he is the best wide receiver in the NFL. In fact, the Raiders made the All-Pro pass catcher the highest-paid WR in NFL history and guaranteed him nearly 70 million dollars.

If Adams is unable to significantly improve the success of the offense, though, the trade and subsequent signing could begin to look like an overpay. When you are the caliber player that Adams is and are coming to a new team, expectations tend to be quite lofty.

Obviously, there are several reasons that the offense could struggle to make large strides. For example, the offensive line has question marks all over it. What could truly cause blame to go in Adams’ direction is if he is unable to put up similar production to what he did in Green Bay.

His numbers are unlikely to be as gaudy due to stronger surrounding talent, but if his output falls off of a cliff and the Raiders struggle to put up points, questions will begin to arise.
