Are There Some Spots Open at Wide Receiver
The Raiders wisely elected to not play star receivers Davante Adams and Hunter Renfrow, while giving Mack Hollins very little run. Those players are locked in as the top 3 on the depth chart right now but it was widely assumed that Demarcus Robinson and Keelan Cole would round out the group.
Cole seems likely to make the roster but Robinson seems to have been overtaken by Tyron Johnson. Johnson has made a number of big plays in camp and he was a player many were keeping an eye on in the preseason opener and he showed up.
Johnson flashed his speed and explosiveness and could be nearly locked in as the teams premier deep threat, a role Robinson was signed to play.
While Robinson could still very well make it as a 4th or 5th receiver, the Raiders could opt to go with a younger player who will also play special teams such as Dillon Stoner, D.J. Turner or Justin Hall. Jordan Veasy also looked good but at 27 years old, it makes little sense to keep him over Robinson.
Hall specifically is intriguing because of his kick return prowles and the speed he brings. While small, Hall profiles as an Isiah McKenzie/Taylor Gabriel type of player. He is a home run hitter who needs creative ways to get the ball in his hands.
