The Quarterbacks: Derek Carr and Jarrett Stidham

In the modern-day NFL, it is rare to see a team keep more than two quarterbacks on their roster. It seems most teams would agree that if the starting quarterback gets hurt, then there is not much a backup is going to do anyway.

As such, the two passers that will make the Raiders roster feel quite obvious. Of course, Derek Carr will return as the starting quarterback in Las Vegas. Heading into his ninth season, he was given a shiny new extension this off-season. Further affirming their commitment to Carr long-term, it is now on him to give the team their first playoff victory since 2002.

Behind him, former Patriots draft selection Jarrett Stidham appears poised to earn the job. After starting the team’s first preseason game, he had a solid showing and even added a rushing touchdown.

In the event that Carr was to go down, Stidham also has familiarity with head coach Josh Mcdaniels’ offense that will give him a leg up over both Nick Mullens and Chase Garbers in the race for QB2.
