Offensive Raiders with the most to prove in 2022 preseason game No. 2

Jarrett Stidham

For the past few seasons, Marcus Mariota has served as the backup to Derek Carr, proving to the rest of the NFL that he deserved another shot at being a starter in the league. Mariota got that chance this offseason, signing with the Atlanta Falcons, and he currently is in line to be their starter in their new era after the departure of Matt Ryan.

To take his place, the Raiders have been working out a few signal-callers, including Jarrett Stidham. Like McDaniels, Stidham comes to the Silver and Black after his tenure with the New England Patriots, and it was clear in preseason game No. 1 that he could be the QB2 for the team in 2022.

Stidham has great command of the offense, can get the job done with his arm and his legs, and has the confidence of the head coach. This may be a foregone conclusion, but Stidham is very close to being named the backup to Carr, leaving Nick Mullens in his wake.
