The Las Vegas Raiders have won both of their 2022 preseason games, but that does not mean some surprising cut candidates haven’t emerged.

It is that time of summer when the rosters for all 32 NFL teams, including the Las Vegas Raiders, begin to shrink. The Silver and Black have played two preseason games already, this after appearing in the Hall of Fame Game, so names are starting to emerge in terms of making the 53-man roster.

However, that means that names are emerging as potential cut candidates, and some may surprise you.

Demarcus Robinson

The former Chief was originally signed as a possible starter opposite of Davante Adams, but since camp and preseason, he has fallen out of favor. To start, reports have stated that Robinson has struggled to get open in camp and without the benefit of playing with star players, he has struggled in the preseason.

Mack Hollins and Keelan Cole look to be clearly ahead of Robinson, as does Tyron Johnson. Those three started for the Raiders on Sunday, while Robinson was playing into the fourth quarter. That is a bad sign for Robinson’s hope of making the roster.

If the Raiders opt to only keep five receivers, it looks like Robinson will be the odd man out. Johnson is a better deep threat than Robinson and if the Raiders want a player who can back up the slot, they could opt to keep a younger, cheaper player such as DJ Turner or Justin Hall, both of whom will also contribute on special teams.

Cutting Robinson only comes with a dead cap hit of about $400,000, so he needs to show out in remaining games if he wants to make the team.
