Brittain Brown shines again

This Raiders’ running back room is too stacked. Really – I can’t even imagine who doesn’t make the roster at the end. So much so, I dare say veteran Kenyan Drake ends up being a cut/trade candidate before the season starts. That’s a different topic for a different time, though. Back to Brittain Brown.

This is now the second week in a row where Brown has led the team in rushing yards. The first was against Minnesota at home, where the seventh-round pick logged 54 yards on the ground in addition to a touchdown. On Saturday, the Raiders’ rookie recorded an incredible 70 yards on just 9 carries.

It’s just difficult to imagine Brown makes the 53-man roster – not because he doesn’t deserve it, but because he’s the easiest to stash. Josh Jacobs, Zamir White and Brandon Bolden are locks to make the final roster, and while preseason sensation Austin Walter isn’t even a favorite to make it, his fantastic preseason cannot go unnoted. Of course, there’s still Kenyan Drake as well.

This leaves Brown the odd man out, giving the Raiders a chance to stash the UCLA alum on their practice squad. Still, it’s impossible to ignore what Brown has done over the last two weeks, and he may force his way onto the roster if he shows up big once again in the Raiders’ final preseason contest.
