Las Vegas Raiders: Takeaways from the 2022 preseason and looking ahead

The Raiders are deep

Jarrett Stidham’s dominant performance at quarterback might’ve been the highlight of the Raiders’ preseason, but it’s far from the only takeaway. I promise, the rise and fall of individual players will come soon, including how multiple Raiders’ fare when it comes to the 53-man roster.

This is one of the deepest Raiders’ rosters in a long time.

It seems like no matter which position group you look at, there’s a player that had a great camp/preseason yet remains in danger of being cut due to such tight competition. I’ll talk about a few of those specific players later, in fact. For now, I’m talking about general depth without zeroing in on any individuals.

How deep is the 2022 Raiders’ roster? Well, their depth led them to an undefeated preseason – the first in franchise history.

Let me clear the air on this undefeated preseason subject. During the ’08 season, where Detroit finished 0-16, the team went undefeated in the preseason. When the Cleveland Browns went 0-16 in 2017, they went undefeated in the preseason. The Raiders situation is very different. Check out these comparisons to see what I mean.
