Full 2022 NFL Season Predictions: Division winners, awards, and more
Coach of the Year: Josh McDaniels, Las Vegas Raiders
In his first year leading the Las Vegas Raiders, according to these predictions, Josh McDaniels navigated a brutal AFC West en route to a 13-4 record. Furthermore, he oversaw one of the league’s most explosive offenses that produced Pro Bowlers in Derek Carr, Davante Adams, and Darren Waller. While his team would not make the Super Bowl, an AFC Championship berth was enough for McDaniels to get the nod.
MVP: Trey Lance, San Francisco 49ers
A second-year quarterback taking over the reins from Jimmy Garoppolo, Lance has a lot of expectations on his shoulders in 2022. Despite this, his immense physical talent paired with elite weapons will be enough to get him consideration for this award. As we have seen in the past, Kyle Shanahan is capable of carrying bad quarterbacks to success so the sky is the limit for someone of Lance’s talent.
Rookie of the Year: Dameon Pierce, Houston Texans
A fourth-round pick of the Texans, Pierce lit up the pre-season and in turn, won the starting running back job. Initially, an unknown who had fans in the draft community, his name quickly gained traction among fantasy football players due to his massive potential. The lead ball carrier on a team that will look to feature him often, Pierce has a great chance to win this award.
