Las Vegas Raiders at Chargers 2022 Week 1: 3 Bold Predictions

Crosby and Jones both bring down Herbert

Back when these two teams met in Week 18 of last season, Herbert was sacked three times for a combined 28 yards for loss. Two of those sacks were registered by Pro Bowler Maxx Crosby, but on Sunday he should have some help with one of Las Vegas’ newest additions from the offseason.

Chandler Jones will line up alongside Crosby on Sunday, and he brings 10.5 sacks from a season ago with the Arizona Cardinals with him. Advantageous field position for an offense is predicated on defensive takeaways, and that will be a key factor for the Raiders to get the win on Sunday. After Crosby’s two-sack performance in last season’s finale, we’re predicting a big day from the Raiders’ pass-rushing duo.

Los Angeles ranked sixth in the NFL last season with an average of 1.8 sacks surrendered per game. But this Chargers team hasn’t seen the likes of Crosby and Jones play together. We’re predicting that Herbert is brought down multiple times on Sunday, with Crosby and Jones each registering a sack in the process.
